Painting and Printmaking

When I was a kid, my aunt took me to the Detroit Institute of Art.  Then and there I knew that I wanted to be an artist.  So, I try to draw almost every day, take workshops, studio courses, and study independently. There is daily life, family and making a living.  I evolved into a multimedia nature-inspired artist, with an emphasis on hand-pulled prints primarily lino-cut.  Also exploring acrylic painting, I like what happened during the process. The process is essential to me, studying color, line, shape, and texture are exciting.  When I paint, I am in the zone, trying to get to the essence of the object, taking all of these “studies” and develop a work of art that brings the viewer into my world.  I am the mother of 4 children and grandmother of 9 grandchildren.

I have been exhibiting in juried shows since the 1980’s. Valley Art Center, Russell Women’s Art show, Fairmont annual show, Solon Art Guild Proscenium, 10th annual Willoughby Fine Art Center, Woman’s City Club-Society for Nature Artists 8th annual Exhibition, Batavia, NY Spaces Member Exhibit
