April’s Cottage Soaps
Soap maker
An artist and soap maker with Downs syndrome who started my business seven years ago. I had a problem with really itchy skin. Then I started making and using goat milk, glycerin crafted soaps and organic bath salts. They smelled great and seemed to really help my skin.
It took a long time for me to learn to paint slipper soap, but now it is my favorite thing. I mold and paint soaps, make greeting cards, bags and collage paintings. Working in my smash book is fun, too.
Mom, Dad and Wizard Weasley, my doggy pal, live in Russell Township in Ohio. We live in the country and have a big garden with lots of flowers, good-smelling herbs and plenty of room to play ball with Weasley. My favorite things are butterflies, flowers, Zumba dancing and watching the soaps on TV – Don’t tell mom.
I do my painting in my home studio. Meeting and selling my soaps and cards at craft shows and in shops is fun. Email us to talk soap! specialhandsartists@gmail.com
