Glass and Metal Jewelry

I enjoy working in the old medium of enamel (glass on metal), where a variety of techniques continually draw me in. The depths within the transparency of the fired glass and layering of the enamels grabbed me from the first time that I worked with it over thirty years ago. I sometimes fire a plate up to twelve times to achieve my desired designs. The added intrigue of the metal bases (cooper, fine silver, or steel), and variations that come with the choice of the metal base expand the world of enamel for me. The metal base and the enamels’ reflective qualities lead me off and at times become distracting with so many possibilities and combinations.
